Meet Our Staff

Deer Valley Academy programs are staffed by individuals who have been trained in early childhood education/child development and who demonstrate the necessary personal qualities for working with young children.

Our staff have been selected for their educational backgrounds, as well as their experiences and expertise for working with young children. All teachers undergo a thorough reference check and background screening. During the school year, each teacher will receive frequent observations, coaching and evaluations. All staff receive CPR and first aid certification, a food handler’s permit and on-going training in the area of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.

Mollie Smith - Little Tots

I am excited to start my first year with Deer Valley Academy. Originally from Pennsylvania, I moved to Utah this past winter. I feel very privileged to be joining this amazing team of teachers. Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us.

Emily Durka - Little Kids

I was born in Salt Lake City and have spent most of my life here in Utah. I have also lived in California, Nebraska, and Washington. After spending three years working upstairs with the Bambi group (4-year-olds), and helping them during the indoor portion of their ski school day, I moved downstairs to the Deer Valley Academy this year and am very excited to be working with the Little Kids program!

Bethany Cooley - Preschool

I have been working with children for the past nine years and love seeing them grow and learn new things. I have lived in Utah for the past four years and enjoy swimming, playing the piano, crocheting, cross-stitching and reading. I am married with four children; Bekah (9), Tanner (7), Addisynn (5), and Kassie (2).

Olga Wooley - Preschool

I grew up in Central Asia and earned my master's degree in teaching Russian and English from the State University of Uzbekistan. With over 30 years of experience, I have taught numerous age groups in different countries.

Upon arriving to the United States and starting my new role as a Deer Valley Academy Teacher, I discovered the amazing world of 3- and 4-year-olds, which is a world where nothing is impossible and great discoveries happen every minute. The beautiful setting of Deer Valley reminds me of my home mountains and makes me treasure each day.

In my free time, I enjoy art, literature and classical music. I like to garden and cook healthy food for my family and friends. As part of my body-mind-spirit lifestyle, my most recent passions are Tai Chi and Yoga. I love traveling the world with my daughter Margo, as well as camping with my husband Rod, and our precious puppy Layla.
